Among the last flowers of the season – a garden update

grow-echinaceaIt’s been a long, intense summer. Three months of extreme heat and no rain. It is not something we where prepared for here in Sweden. Our summers are suppose to be a mix of warmth and rain, not scorching hot with temperatures around 30’C almost for three months straight.

As you might expect, my garden did not fare well. Everything shriveled up. About half of the flowers I planted didn’t make it, an those that survived has grown only half the size of what they should be. But most are perennials, and now that we’ve gotten some rain and the temperature has dropped, they seem to be recovering. With some luck they’ll come back next year and bless us with their beauty.

How have your gardens fared this summer? Did you suffer heat and water-rations like me? Or were you among those who had to deal with lower temperatures than normal and more rain?
